Аннотация: The article presents the action-functional approach to defence activity slightly different from the traditional conception of that issue. This description of defence activity underlines its function, structure and the place it has within the system of subject's action. The paper presents also the experiments which the author carried out on seven years old children, pupils of Wroctaw primary schools. The results of the experiments were thoroughly characterised and interpreted. They confirm the elementary assumptions of the action-functional approach according to which the course and specific character of defence activity depend on the configuration of senso-creative motives, threatened in their fulfillment or on the specific character of the situation of danger. Аннотация: In this work the author puts forward her own, empirically verified, approach to defence activity in children and analyses numerous factors potentially modifying that activity in particular stages of a child's psychical development. She also formulates some alternative approaches to defence activity in children, based on the assumptions of psychoanalysis and the research theories orientated towards the analysis of children's behaviour in difficult situations. The author supports her theses with the results of a research on defense in children, conducted within the above-mentioned theories. Finally, she postulates some possible directions of the development of the theories examining defence activity in children

Аннотация: The paper outlines a new, functional-active approach to defensive activity, in which an attempt is made to take up the problem of psychological defense within developmental psychology, i.e. in the area of correct functioning and development of an individual. First the regulative functions of defensive activity wer briefly characterized, as well as its structure and the position it can have in the system of activity of a human being. Next there is a short discussion of results of studies, which verify the basic assumptions of the approach in question. The paper presents also the basic directions of the development of functional-active approach to defensive activity, both in the theoretical and in the research aspects. Библ. 15
