Аннотация: The use of combination OCs has been associated with increased glucose intolerance as measured by the OGTT, IVGTT, and the clamp techniques. The estrogen component seems to be associated with some dergee of insulin resistance that is modified by the type of the progestin, with the greatest change in glucose metabolism being associated with OCs containing norgestrel.{7} {9}{-}{1}{2} Increased insulin secretion was associated with maintenance of euglycemic values during chronic administration of OCs.{7}{-}{9} However, some patient populations receiving OCs may not be capable of mounting an adequate hyperinsulinemic response to the increased glucose challenge during OC therapy, and may therefore develop elevations in the circulating plasma glucose and insulin levels. These populations would include women with insulindependent and noninsulindependent diabetic patients, as well as women with a previous history of gestational diabetes.
