Аннотация: Three types of aggressive behavior (physical, verbal, and indirect) were investigated among adolescents of three age groups (8, 11, and 15 years old) in Finland, Italy, Israel, and Poland (n=2095), by help of both peer and self rating techniques. Data from ethnic subgroups in Finland (Finnish and Swedish speakers) and in Israel (secular and orthodox Israelis) were included. Across nations and ethnic groups, boys used physical and verbal aggression more than girls, while girls used indirect aggression more than boys. Attributional Discrepancy Indexes (ADI) between self and peer estimations were calculated as a measure of social norms in regard to styles of aggression. Variation in ADI-scores occurred, dependent on age, sex, and ethnic group, indicating variation in norms pertaining to aggression. A multidimensional scaling technique, ALSCAL, was used in order to analyze patterns of dissimilarity in aggressive style over sex and culture. Cultural variation appeared as distribution along the x-axis (dimension 1), and sex differences along the y-axis (dimension 2) in a two-dimensional solution, indicating that patterns of aggressive behavior are dependent on both culture and sex
