Аннотация: Psychological acceptance of disabilities in people with physical disabilities is related to their modification of self-concept. The present study was conducted to investigate the modification of self-concept of three persons with physical disabilities who were invited to the home for the physically challenged as guests to discuss with them on the thoughts toward the acceptance of disabilities and their way of life. Of the three persons one was blind, one had muscular dystrophy, and the third had spinal muscular atrophy, and the degree of acceptance of their disabilities seemed to be high. The thoughts of these three persons were summarized in regard to their perception of self-concept. The main results were as follows: 1) Self-concept of these three persons consisted of 23 items and they were divided into four groups: A) taking an objective view of one's situation; B) modification of one's value system or way of thinking; C) changes in one's personal relations to others; D) finding out the meaning in one's life. 2) Each of the four areas was classified into four stages according to the degree of changes in one's self-concept. One case in the home was evaluated by these stages. 3) The relation of the acceptance of physical disability in persons to the modification in one's self-concept was examined in relation to the theory by B. A. Wright on value changes in acceptance of disability

Аннотация: Мощным патогенным фактором при развитии любой болезни является принятие болезни (ПБ), "уступчивость" по отношению к ней (compliance). В работе исследуется связь между ПБ и обменом веществ у больных Diabetes mellitus с одной стороны, и ПБ и эмоционально-когнитивными факторами, с другой. Обследованы 93 юноши и девушки в возрасте от 17 до 19 лет. Впервые вместе рассматривались и соотносились знания о болезни, вера в выздоровление, внутреннее преодоление болезни, локус контроля, удовлетворенность мед. обслуживанием и восприятие изменений уровня глюкозы в крови. Оказалось, что понятие ПБ объясняет 22,5% разброса показателей обмена веществ. В свою очередь, ПБ м. б. объяснено на 32,8% факторами веры в здоровье и удовлетворенности мед. обслуживанием. Т. о., обнаружилась тесная связь между эмоционально-когнитивными переменными и прогнозом развития болезни.
