Аннотация: Bereitschaftspotential (BP) or Readiness Potential (RP), the slow negative brain potential associated with the preparation of voluntary or self-initiated motor actions, has an unreasonably long onsettime about 1 s or more prior to the motor action. The aim of the present study was to clarify why the onsettime of BP was so long. Seventeen subjects (paid university students and laboratory personnels, aged 22-30 years, 9 males) were employed. The experiment was carried out with a backward average BP experimental paradigm. The BP onsettime of the voluntary self-initiated index finger flexion was compared with that of the instructed index finger flexion. The results indicated that there was no significant defference on the onsettime of BP between the two kinds of movement which meant that the BP onsettime in instructed movement was much longer than the reaction time in instructed movement. Thus, a part of BP should occur before the instruction of movement. This part of BP will be referred to the early component of BP. For analysis of the source of the BP early component, the BP onsettimes of the unconscious eyeblink, instructed eyeblink and voluntary self-initiated eyeblink were measured. The results showed that the BP onsettime of the unconscious eyeblink was shorter than those of the other two kinds of the conscious eyeblink. Библ. 13
